Fort Walton Beach announced household bulk collections beginning October 22, with city crews working ahead of storm-debris contractors. There are no fixed pickup days, according to the city notice checked October 25. [1]

Separate the piles

City crews handle household items such as mattresses and furniture; contractors collect vegetation and construction debris. Keep those categories separate where possible, leave vegetation and construction material loose, and keep piles clear of hydrants, mailboxes and utilities. The city requests pieces about eight feet long or shorter and excludes hazardous waste, tires and electronics. [1]

Appointments and questions

Commercial and multifamily accounts must arrange debris collection with Solid Waste; charges depend on removal time and disposal costs. Call 850-833-9655 for questions or scheduling. City yard-waste collection will wait until the contractor completes its required passes and is released. [1]
