A bicycle reported stolen in March reappeared in an online sales listing, according to a July 16 Fort Walton Beach Police Department release. The document describes an investigation that moved from Facebook Marketplace to an arranged $400 purchase and, the department says, recovery of the bicycle. [1]

The sequence described by police

The release says the owner recognized the electric bicycle in a listing and detectives arranged a meeting with the seller. It describes a pursuit after officers tried to stop him, followed by another person picking up the bicycle and attempting to leave with it. The department reported two arrests. [1]

These are the events as presented in the police release. The preserved document is not a sworn transcript, a complete investigative file, or a court disposition. The Salty Rag has not independently established the suspects’ later case outcomes.

An online listing becomes part of a paper trail

The release is useful because it records how the department described the connection between an earlier theft report and a later listing. It does not include the listing itself, its timestamps, the owner’s original report, or the underlying purchase communications.

Those materials could test or add detail to the published sequence if they become available. For now, the archival claim is narrower: this is the account issued in the submitted July notice, with its date and case number retained.

A dated record, not a new arrest bulletin

The article does not present this older release as an event that happened today. [1]
